Co-operation with Walenberg Rail Assessment
Walenberg Rail Assessment was founded in 2010. This company is working in all area's of railway assessment: safety, interoperability, operation, maintenance,...
Since 2012 the companies Walenberg Rail Assessment and Actel Axle are co-operating.
Since 2012 the companies Walenberg Rail Assessment and Actel Axle are co-operating.
An example of this co-operation is the recent succesful development of a broken rail detector. This is a 75 Hz detection relais that replaces the broken rail detection cables in switches. The objective of the device is to reduce the risk of theft of copper cables, while maintaining an excellent level of detection of broken rails in switches.
Since mid 2012 one hundred devices have been put in operation and several hundreds will follow.
A further project that is under preparation is a special balancing and earthing system that can be applied in zones where ac (50 Hz or 16,7 Hz) electrification and dc (750 V, 1500 V, 3000V) are running in parallel. These zones are very vulnerable to stray currents and inductive effects from the ac network on the dc network, which are a threat to the signalling systems in the dc networks. The objective of this development is to eleminate the lateral interference voltages over the running rails of the dc network and thus eliminate the source of interference.
